TriVita Coenzyme Q10 For Your Health And Wellness | 142

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is produced by the human body and is required for proper functioning of cells. As we grow older that amount of CoQ10 produced by our bodies decreases. Some prescription drugs may also lower CoQ10 in our bodies. Levels of CoQ10 can be increased by taking it, although due to difficulty in testing it isn’t clear that replacing it is beneficial. At this time CoQ10 is still controversial as treatment in many areas. Safety and effectiveness have not always been proven. Some of these conditions are serious and should be evaluated by your Dr. or a qualified health care person.

CoQ10 and cholesterol are both made from the same substance, mevalonate, statin drugs (Lipitor, Zocor, etc) also inhibit the body's synthesis of coenzyme Q10. This is not a "side effect," of statins, but a direct, inherent function of the drugs. In fact, the use of statins can decrease the body's synthesis of coenzyme Q10 by as much as 40%. To me this is an indication that you should look for alternatives in the use of statin drugs.

It appears as though you are between a rock and a hard place if you are on prescription drugs, to alter your course could jeopardize your life. Statins are a group of medicines which are commonly used to reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood. They include atorvastatin, fluvastatin, pravastatin, rosuvastatin, and simvastatin. They each have different brand names. Statins work by blocking the action of a certain enzyme (chemical) in the liver which is needed to make cholesterol. These statins by design inhibit the body from making it’s own CoQ10. It’s not a side effect, it’s by design.

Personally, I turned my back on the medical profession nearly 50 years ago because within 5 months they had me on 5 different drugs, each time I went to see the Dr. I got a new medicine to add to what I was already taking. I came home after my 5th visit and haven’t been back to an MD since. I threw all the pills away and thankfully I came in contact with a naturopathic doctor that helped me get back on the right track. This doctor had a medical degree and added a naturopathic degree to his practice and was brilliant. He taught me a lot. I learned a long time ago that diet is the answer to good health coupled with self discipline. It hasn’t been an easy path for me. Go back to your Bible for a proper health diet. It is really there and sound.

By this article, do not think I am against using CoQ10, I am all for it but the conditions of your body and your knowledge will be the determining factors of your health. If your body is low of CoQ10 you certainly need more of it. By careful dieting you could possibly lessen your need for the statin drugs and carefully evaluate the need for supplemental CoQ10. Remember knowledge is power if used correctly. Get on your computer and do some research on CoQ10, statin drugs, and dieting. There is no reason for you being in the dark.
