Well, I’m a crazy old man of 77 years and have a dream and think that it's coming about. In 1953 I went to work for a manufacturing company and found myself in their Tabulating department where they processed transactions for payrolls and work schedules for their machine shops.. I was fortunate enough to be able to work with both areas and finally wound up specializing with the scheduling of their machine shop schedules. It is there that the groundwork was laid for my learning to work with the ancient computers. I have worked with computers as an operator and a computer programmer and then finally having my own home computer.
At first the home computer didn’t have the internet and now with the internet the home computer is no longer just a home computer. It is collectively a cell in a world wide communication devices where you now have the ability to expand the power of your little home computer into a talking and listening and observing device. The ability to talk both ways and partake and communicate both ways with what is going on in the whole world. The television and radio are listening devices that have been primarily one way except for the short wave radio. Now with the internet you have instruments that are no longer one way communications but you can now enter into the arena of being an active contributor to this magnificent method of communications. You can write and publish as I am doing here or you can talk to people in far away places in groups or individually. I attended a meeting last evening that had people from around the world in attendance. I don’t recall the count but there were upwards of 60, 70 or 80 people. To stay in touch I attend 3 or 4 such meetings on different levels each week for the purpose of education and training which is directed at my work from home business, home schooling education and learning how to use such devises that would fulfill the requirements of maintaining my own home school and work environment. Yes I still work; even at the age of 77.
